“Movable Feast: Chicago” collaborative truck project Between Hoyun Son and Jung A. Woo, 2009. It is a public art project mapping America's diverse cultural landscape through food, while exploring the impact of globalization on our dinner tables. First "Movable Feast" happened at Renegade Craft Fair in Chicago. The goal of Movable Feast is to stimulate the local community's consciousness of the relationship between the natural world of their own backyards and the pursuit of healthy lifestyles by locating native wild edible plants and preparing a meal with them. Additionally, we seek to recognize and appreciate both the cultural uniqueness and commonness represented in each community by comparing and sharing the diversity of recipes based on one of the world's most commonly used ingredients, the potato.

Imagine the possibilities of mobilizing your art and culminating events virtually anywhere: on streets, in a parking area, or even in areas outside of the city.

Artists are asked to submit their ideas for use of a truck bed space, measuring 74 inches by 48 inches. This opportunity offers the artists the freedom to bring studio practice closer to a variety of diverse audiences. Works will be selected based on their purpose of investigations and artistic practices to engage the community outside traditional spaces of museums and art galleries.

Artists are given the liberty, physically and economically, to meet and learn from the public. The vehicle becomes a physical and symbolic space allowing artists to go out and move through the city.

Visual artists, interested citizens, poets, musicians, dancers, performers, activists, and writers are all welcome to submit their ideas which involves interactive and participatory community activities or events resulting in relationships with communities.

All works are to be executed in a responsible manner and should take into consideration their effect on the environment.
All artists are solely responsible for any expenses incurred in creating, producing, installing, maintaining, and removing their work. This financial obligation also includes gas money for driving the truck around the city if the artist chooses. (Due to responsibility and insurance, the truck will be driven by the truck’s owner.)

Self -addresses and stamped envelop with appropriate postage for returning all materials
